The Jacquemart-André Museum
The Jacquemart-André Museum is dedicated to fine and decorative arts.
Édouard André was a politician and a rich collector of works of art who built a mansion between 1869 and 1875. From 1872 onwards, he began to build a large collection of works from the 18th century. In 1861 he married Nélie Jacquemart, an artist who joined his project but was more interested in italian paintings from the 14th century to the Renaissance.
After the death of her husband, Nélie Jacquemart built the project of bequeathing the hotel and the works after her death, provided that the building be transformed into a museum. The museum was founded and was inaugurated a year and a half after the death of Nélie Jacquemart.
A unique venue
The Jacquemart André Museum is a large Haussmannian residence with 18 rooms, making it a special place. Besides collections of tapestries, paintings, and sculptures, the hotel offers a discovery of spaces decorated in a 19th century fashion with state-of-the-art rooms, a monumental staircase, a conservatory, and richly furnished private apartments .
Like most museums, the museum also has temporary exhibitions.
The collections

From July 1 to 31, the museum organizes a free 30-minute visit at 2:45 pm where children and their parents are invited to discover the permanent collections under the guidance of a guide who will present the major works of the museum. Children can dress up as characters inspired by the paintings of the museum and have their photo taken before leaving.
Creative workshops :
Every afternoon in the Winter Garden, a children's area organizes animations combining game and creation based on colors, drawing, and oil pastels. A reading and games corner is also available for children.
Le café Jacquemart André: A good place for brunch
It is an EXCEPTIONAL place and a very good restaurant. Salads, quiches, dish of the day for a price of 16 to 20€. Very good pastries too. A very good Brunch is available on Sundays.
There is a very nice terrace, but it is quite small, so come early for a chance to get a seat.
The best plan is without doubt the Sunday brunch.
